The NDC in its 2012 manifesto promised to provide quality, affordable, reliable and efficient health care system for all citizenry, to this effect a nationwide exercise to give free medical care to prisoners took off on Monday at the Nsawam Medium Security Prisons.

About three thousand seven hundred (3700) inmates will receive free medical care and medications during the duration of the excercise.

The five-day exercise at the Nsawam Prison, forms part of the national specialized medical outreach project to ensure that the vulnerable, irrespective of their location, are given their constitutional right to good, quality health care.

Subsequently, the medical exercise is expected to be extended to other prison facilities across the country.

Five mobile van clinics with medical officials were on sight providing ear, nose, throat, dental, x-ray and ophthalmology screening services to the inmates.
