Prinpag Receives Donations From Unibank

samsung-led-tvUnibank, one of the leading indigenous banks in Ghana, has donated several items to the Private Newspaper Publishers Association of Ghana (PRINPAG) to help the association?s secretariat function more efficiently and effectively.?

This is part of the?bank?s efforts to assist the Ghanaian media develop and play its role as provider of information and effective societal?watch dog.

The?donation?comprised?office furniture, chairs, tables and filing cabinet inclusive as well as a plethora of office equipment such as a LED television, refrigerator,?laser printer?and DVD entertainment system. The items are valued at GH?19,000.

PRINPAG is the formal association of?privately?owned?print media?organisations comprising?newspapers and magazines?and currently has over 100 members.

Unibank?s?Chief Operating Officer, Dr Kwabena Duffuor, who led the delegation that made the presentation, affirmed that the bank was happy to be associated with PRINPAG and assured that further support for the association and its activities had been duly budgeted for.

He?noted that Unibank?s success as an outstanding bank in Ghana, as evidenced by the many awards it has been conferred with, had been made possible in part by the support it had received from the private print media.

He cautioned the media to protect the reputation of individuals and institutions by first doing thorough?researchbefore?publishing stories?that could indict them.

Receiving the items at PRINPAG?s secretariat, the President of the association, Gina Blay, who is also the chief executive of Western Publications, publishers of the Daily Guide newspaper, thanked the bank for its support and expressed hope that it would continue into the future. She?assured?that the items would be put to good use.

PRINPAG?s?Executive Secretary, Kenteman Nii Laryea Sowah used the opportunity to invite other institutions approached by the association to also lend their support to its activities for the common good of society.
