Prince Charles, was commenting at the start of English Tourism Week, which has chosen the English garden as its theme.

wpid-Prince-Charles.jpgIn a message to launch English Tourism Week the Prince, patron of the event, said gardens and entire landscapes can amaze people with their ability to recover relatively quickly from floods and storms.

He said: “The way that local communities have pulled together to ensure a speedy recovery – even after the devastation and heart-breaking losses we have seen in recent months – has been truly remarkable.”

The Prince said tourism provides a source of income for many hard-pressed countryside communities on which many crucially depend.

He said he encouraged people to enjoy “the best of what Great Britain has to offer this spring,” pledging his support for both the Countryside is GREAT Campaign and English Tourism Week.

Prince Charles created his own garden when he moved to Highgrove House in Gloucestershire 36 years ago, personally supervising the creation of landscaped gardens. Highgrove is the family residence of Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, and is open to the public on selected days every year. Enditem
