The maiden competition on the calendar of the Tema Country Golf Club (TCGC), the Presidents’ Putter event ended successfully at club on Saturday.

Competition was fiercely contested in this pro/am event as golfers battled hard to win some of the outstanding prizes at stake in this competition organized by the President of the club Kofi Yin.
In the closely contested men Group A category, Derry Dzani of the Tafo Gold Club came out tops in the one-day 18 Hole event after scoring a net of 64. He beat club captain Noel Hammond and Rueben Avoryi by two strokes who finished in second and third places respectively.
Felix Antonio with a net score of 72, won the men scratch event ahead of Afari Dzadey who closed with the same score. Antonio won on the count-back.
The men Group B class was won by Emmanuel Benison with a net score of 63 ahead of Albert Agbo (63), and Jimmy Tony who finished with 69.
Vincent Torgah showed class in winning the professionals category ahead of younger brother Francis with E. A. Owusu in third position.
Margaret Oppong of the Royal Golf Club, Kumasi, won the ladies Group A category with a net score of 73 with Joy Arkutu of the TCGC in second position also with 73 ahead of Mercy Werner who came in third position with a score of 75.
Michele Kwame won the category B event with a score of 69 with Catherine Boateng (81) and Naomi Addo (86), finishing in second and third positions respectively.
Special prizes donated by PZ Company, were handed out to the winners with Jessica Tei winning the ladies longest drive as did Patrick Tender who won the men class. The closest to the pin was won by Adelaide Owusu-Agyapong and E.T. Mensah respectively for ladies and men.
The next competition on the calendar of the TCGC will be the MTN CEO invitational to be played on April 11 on the greens of the club.
