By that declaration dubbed: “The Accra Declaration,” the candidates have all committed themselves towards maintaining peace before, during and after the December polls as contained in the agreement of Re-affirmation against Electoral Violence, Impunity and Injustice.

Apart from Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, Presidential Candidate for the Progressive People’s Party, who was represented by his running mate, Madam Brigit Dzogbenuku, all the other candidates were present.

They are Ivor Kobina Greenstreet of the Convention People’s Party, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, National Democratic Party, President John Dramani Mahama, National Democratic Congress and Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo, New Patriotic Party.

The rest are Dr Edward Nasigre Mahama of the People’s National Convention and Mr Jacob Osei Yeboah, an Independent Candidate.

Also in attendance were Former Presidents Jerry John Rawlings and Thabo Mbeki of South Africa, and Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.

Chief Justice Georgina Theodora Wood, Mr Mohammed Ibn Chambas, the United Nations Special Representative for West Africa and the Sahel, and Madam Josephine Ojiambo, the Deputy Commonwealth Secretary-General, were also present.

His Eminence Cardinal Peter K. Turkson, President of Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, Rome, sent in a video voice on Peace and Justice.
