President John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday hinted that government would empower indigenous industries to operate to their optimum to reduce the importation of sub-standard goods.

wpid-President-Dramani-Mahama-300x168.jpg“Government will remove the dumping of cheaper products from other countries into our markets…and the only way is to empower you to produce to your maximum for our markets,” he said while addressing management and workers of Aluworks in Tema.

He said the invasion of sub-standard goods into the Ghanaian market is stifling the initiative of the indigenous companies.

The President also inaugurated the Enclave Power company substation and visited the Volta Aluminum Company all in Tema.

He was accompanied by Dr EKwow Spio-Garbrah, Minister of Trade and Industry and Dr Kwabena Donkor, Minister of Power among other dignitaries.

President Mahama who inspected most of their installations said government would reverse the current power situation to enable industry to produce to the maximum.

He promised that government would offer all the necessary support that would the sector to step up production levels.

President Mahama inspected progress of construction works on the Ashaiman and Klagon roads.
