President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appointed Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Majority Leader and Member of Parliament for Effutu, as the new Chairman of the Board of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).

The appointment, confirmed through a letter signed by the President’s Secretary, Ambassador Nana Asante Bediatuo, follows Herbert Krapa’s reassignment to the Minister of State role at the Energy Ministry. Krapa assumed this position after Keli Gadzekpo’s resignation on March 26.

Afenyo-Markin’s new role as ECG Board Chair is of utmost importance, as it positions him to oversee strategic decisions and governance matters within the state-owned utility company. This is a critical role in Ghana’s energy sector, and his appointment is expected to have a significant impact on the governance of ECG.

For further details on the appointment and the importance of the ECG Board’s initiatives, interested parties are advised to contact the Office of the President for additional information.
