?One killed, council boss, commissioner in police net over violence

One person was killed and several others sustained injuries following violence that erupted at a prayer session organized for former governor of Kogi State Ibrahim Idris by his kinsmen in Abejukolo, Omala Local government area over the weekend.

An eye witness who would not want his name mentioned told Daily Times that property worth millions of naira were also destroyed during the fracas between two thug groups at Abejukolo and Ola wards of the local government area.

The thugs who were  allegedly, recruited from a  village in Agatu area of Benue state by the Liaison officer 1 of the local council Aminu Atabor was said to have stormed the private residence of the immediate past governor of the state Ibrahim  Idris with dangerous weapons in search of perceived opponents of their master.

The attackers who our source said had mounted road blocks in front of the gate of the former governor’s house hurled dangerous weapons at those who refused to sing the slogan of their sponsors. “Sai Aminu.”

The prayer session was organized for the former governor for a successful completion of his tenure but turned bloody due to claims that a particular candidate for the forth coming council polls has been anointed by the former governor.

The source added that the people who had arrived the house of Idris as early as 7am on Friday, were subjected to serious humiliation, while also preventing perceived enemies of the chairman from entering the compound by thugs loyal to Atabor.

He added that those who dared to challenge them were beaten while those with cars had their wind screens smashed.

The source confirmed that even the commissioner for commerce and industry Hon. Ali Ajuh escaped death by whiskers as the side glass of his Hilux van was shattered for allegedly working against Atabor.

Meanwhile Ibrahim Idris who was unhappy with the turn of events was said to have ordered his security details to dispatch the hoodlums who have seized the front gate of his house.
