The long-awaited 225 Megawatts capacity power barge which set sail from Turkey has finally reached the shores of Ghana in the Western Region and currently headed for Tema as reports do indicate it is expected to arrive at Winneba at 6pm local time and finally dock at the Tema port on Saturday afternoon as already expected.

Ghana’s Western Naval Command with the vessel GNS Bilika met the barge which entered Ghanaian waters at 1:00am on Friday issued out an escort and security to ensure the safe sail of the barge to Winneba in the Central Region, where the Eastern Naval Command will then take over and escort it to its final destination which is the Tema port.

When completed the power plant will generate additional 250 MW of power onto the National Interconnected Transmission System (NITS).

Ghana’s erratic power supply is feared to have caused the nation a great deal of loss considering the huge losses accrued by several businesses and the subsequent layoffs in that regard.
