The Polytechnic Teachers Association, POTAG, has said it was unperturbed by threats by the Fair wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) to withhold their salaries for going on strike.

The teachers were aggrieved that the Fair Wages Commission had failed to facilitate their migration onto the Singe Spine Pay Policy as planned. The commission threatened to get Finance Ministry to withhold the salaries of the lecturers, accusing them of embarking on an illegal strike.

But speaking to Joy news, POTAG President, Francis Atintonu called the bluff of the Commission. He said POTAG was only interested in implementation of their mediation agreement.

“They can go ahead,” he dared, saying: “we were thinking that they would have found a better way of resolving the issue but if they are saying they are going to withhold our salaries I think teachers are not perturbed, we are not bordered.”**
