A Political Science lecturer with the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has said that the flag-bearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), acquitted himself well at the Evening Encounter with the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA).?

Mr Kwesi Amakye said Nana Akufo-Addo demonstrated that he was on top of his game by addressing the critical issues succinctly.

He was assessing the NPP flag-bearer?s performance at the IEA-organised Evening Encounter, on Joy FM?s Super Morning Show Wednesday.

He dismissed criticisms that Nana Addo dwelt too much on the economy, neglecting such critical areas such as sports and was rather taciturn on other sectors of the economy.

Mr Amakye said Nana Addo?s bold statement that he was not corrupt and had never been cited as being corrupt despite his many years in public service was noteworthy.

Commenting on PPP flag-bearer, Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom?s suggestions on fighting corruption, the Political Science lecturer said, ?I think it is a critical issue especially on the issue of one?s ability to fight corruption; we should do a critical analysis; go back to their background, their days in public offices and determine what actions and inactions they took with respect to corruption and then tell whether in office they will do anything different.?

He said given that all the key presidential aspirants in this year?s elections have been in government before, Ghanaians had a rare opportunity to assess the candidates properly and give ?themselves the type of leadership that can move the nation forward.?
