Franklin Cudjoe, President of policy think tank IMANI Africa, has rejected assertions that New Patriotic Party (NPP) members are unaware of the reasons for their 2024 electoral defeat.
His statement responds directly to comments made by Kennedy Agyapong during the NPP’s 2025 conference of chairmen.
Agyapong, addressing party chairmen, stated he was unaware of what caused the NPP’s loss in the 2024 elections. He emphasized the need for stakeholders to review the Mike Ocquaye committee report to identify causes and address issues before selecting a new flagbearer.
Cudjoe countered this position in a public Facebook post, expressing surprise at Agyapong’s remarks. “I get the first question! A very good question.
I wonder why many in the NPP still believe the joke that they don’t know why they were bludgeoned to near obliteration last December. Sigh,” Cudjoe wrote. He maintained that the reasons for the NPP’s significant electoral setback are widely understood both in Ghana and internationally.
The exchange occurs amid ongoing internal NPP reviews following the party’s failure to secure a majority in the 2024 parliamentary elections and its narrow presidential runoff outcome.
