Gunmen approached a police station and opened fire killing two offiers

Unknown gunmen suspected to be members of the Boko Haram have killed two policemen at the Kpakunkun Police station in Minna, the Niger state capital, late Saturday night.

Eye witness said that the gunmen who were in a Volkswagen Golf car, approached the crowded police station and opened fire indiscriminately at the policemen on duty.

Two police men were killed in the attack while others managed to escape.

When contacted the Niger Police spokesman, DSP Pius Edobo, confirmed the death of the two policemen in the attack but did not give any other details.

This is the first attack in Minna since the restriction on the movement of motorcycle movement to a daylight period of 0700 to 1900 hours.
