General Lance Corporal Nathaniel Akomea, a Police officer, Francis Amoako of the National Security and a driver Richard Boateng, driver have been remanded by an Accra Circuit Court for an alleged robbery of a civilian.

Akomea and Amoako are standing trial together with Boateng have all pleaded not guilty to conspiracy and robbery.

They are to reappear in court on January 17.

Their accomplice whose name was only given as David, is currently on the run.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Victor Dosoo told the Court presided over by Mr Aboagye Tandoh that Emmanuel Davies, the Prosecution Witness is a trader and resident at Dome-Paraku Estates in Accra.

He said all the three accused are residents at different suburbs in Accra.

He said on January 12, this year, at about 1230 hours, Davies went to withdraw GH¢5,600.00 from a bank around Ring road central.

Chief Inspector Dosoo said on his way home in the company of his brother in a taxi, the accused persons in a red Toyota Corolla with the registration number GE 340-18, drove across the taxi they were travelling in and stopped them.

He said the accused then arrested Davies together with the cash and drove him away in their car.

He said when they reach a section of the road near East Legon, also in Accra, they collected the money and dropped him.

The Prosecution said, Davies pursued them in another taxi cab and fortunately for him, he spotted a police vehicle and informed them about the incident.

Chief Inspector Dosoo said the police personnel then chased, caught up and arrested and later sent them to the police station.

He said the GH¢5,600.00 and a pistol were retrieved from them.

The Prosecution said the Police also detected that the number on the vehicle was different from that on the road worthy certificate of the car.
