La Premiere said police raids occurred in central Brussels and the nearby districts of Molenbeek, Schaerbeek and Ixelles. The broadcaster said several arrests had been made.

Belgian TV news channel RTL-TVI said police operations had also taken place in Liege and Charleroi, both in the French-speaking Wallonia region of Belgium.

The Belgian federal police force asked media not to spread information about the whereabouts of police while the operations were on-going.
