Innocent and an accomplice stole three packs of the item from a store A 35-year-old trader, Emeka Innocent, was on Monday arraigned before an Ojo Magistrate Court, Lagos, for stealing body lotion from a store. Innocent, however, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing. The prosecutor, Corporal Friday Eze, told the court that the defendant and an accomplice, who was at large, allegedly stole three packs of body lotion at Danity Supermarket, Okokomaiko on the evening of August 4, 2012. Eze told Magistrate M. Shomade that the defendant and his accomplice operated under the pretext of buying a loaf of bread, and stole the goods while the shop attendant had gone to get the bread. According to the prosecutor, the shop attendant noticed that the packs of body lotion were missing and therefore raised an alarm. The prosecutor said that Innocent’s accomplice managed to escape in the confusion that ensued, and the stolen goods were found in the defendant’s bag when a search was carried out. Shomade granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties, and adjourned the case to September 9, 2012.
