NULGE says it has no objection to the policy that seeks to redeploy staff to their areas of origin

The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) Plateau State chapter, on Sunday said it has “no objection” to the state government’s decision to redeploy local government staff to their areas of origin.

The union’s stand was made known by the state President of the union, Samson Mafuyai, who added that the policy would make the workers more productive.

“The state government has the right to bring up any policy, but we have tried to find out whether such policies are good,” he said.

“We have asked government to explain their motives and hope such motives will be very convincing.”

The Plateau state government, on Wednesday, inaugurated a 16-member committee for the  deployment of local government staff to their  local government areas of origin.

Prof. Shedrack Best, the Secretary to the State Government, who inaugurated the committee, said that the decision was based on the recommendations of a committee on civil service reforms.

The committee, which is expected to identify staff to be affected and determine the total workforce of each local government, is expected to come up with its report by January.
