The Plateau Government on Thursday said it had approved N7bn for various projects in the state?s health and education sectors.

The Commissioner for Information, Mrs Olivia Dazyam, told newsmen at the post-executive council meeting presided by Gov. Jonah Jang, that submissions received from the State Tenders Board were approved by the executive council.

?The Plateau Government has approved the sum of N7bn for the second phase of contracts in the health and education sector. The projects include the renovation of schools in the three senatorial zones and with their approval, the governor?s desire to revamp the educational sector is been fully actualised.

?N4bn is for the implementation of projects in education sector while three billion is dedicated to various projects in the health sector which include the expansion of the Plateau Specialist Hospital.

?Others are the construction of an Accident and Emergency Department in Riyom Hospital and the renovation of the Barkin?Ladi and Shendam General Hospitals,? Dazyam said.

She said that the council intended to increase the capacity of the general hospitals to 60-bed each.
