The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has directed the Edo State chapter of the party to take necessary disciplinary actions against any party member found engaging in anti-party activities in relation to the 2012 governorship election in the state.

The party warned that the new administration would not condone any form of indiscipline from members.

The PDP, at the first National Working Committee (NWC) meeting of the new leadership of the party, held on Wednesday under the leadership of the new National Chairman, Dr. Bamanga Turkur, discussed crucial party matters.

The party also directed its South-West Zonal Executive Committee to immediately take over the running of the affairs of the party in Ogun State, pending further decisions by the NWC.

In a release made available to Daily Times by its National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, the party resolved that the Makanjuola Ogundipe-led Ekiti State Executive Committee of the PDP is the authentic leadership of the party in the state.

The party directed other leaders, elders and members of the party in Ekiti State to comply with the directive, saying it would not condone the formation of parallel executives. The NWC urged the State Executive Committee to work harmoniously with all party members to ensure reconciliation and unity.

It also adopted the outcome of the meeting it held with the management and staff of the National Secretariat of the Party, which centred on building an efficient and result-oriented workforce capable of driving the vision of the new administration.

The PDP, however, said the NWC of the party will, on Thursday April 19, meet with all the party’s state governors at the National Secretariat in Abuja to discuss other important matters.
