?Paul Harris has joined the latest member of the 2012 AAE judging panel. Paul is a respected banker, entrepreneur and business academic and brings over 35 years of experience to the panel. As the leading Awards program for business and entrepreneurship in Africa, we are proud to welcome such an illustrious business leader to the panel. We look forward to drawing on Paul?s vast wisdom as the panel selects the winners for this year.?

The other members of the judging panel include:?Dr. Ahmed Heikal, Founder and Chairman of Citadel Capital in Egypt,?Chris Kirubi, renowned Kenyan Industrialist, Serial Entrepreneur and Investor,?Divine Ndhlukula, Founder & CEO, Securico, Zimbabwe and Grand Prize Winner, Africa Awards for Entrepreneurship, 2011,?Adedotun Sulaiman, Former MD of Accenture Nigeria, Founder & Chairman, Arian Capital Management, and?Yvonne Ike, CEO, West Africa, Renaissance Group.

Paul Harris co-founded Rand Consolidated Investments (?RCI?) in 1977. He spent four years in Australia where he founded Australian Gilt Securities (later to become RMB Australia) and returned to South Africa in 1991 as deputy managing director of RMB. In 1992, he took over as chief executive officer. Subsequent to the formation of FirstRand, he was appointed chief executive officer of FirstRand Bank Holdings in 1999, a position he held until December 2005 when he was appointed chief executive officer of FirstRand. He retired in 2010. Paul has held directorships with RMB Holdings Ltd, FirstRand Limited, FirstRand Bank Limited, Momentum Group Ltd, Remgro Ltd, Cricket SA, the Southern African PGA Tour, and is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Penryn College and its outreach programme Penreach. He completed his tertiary education at Stellenbosch University with a M.Comm degree majoring in Economics and Finance and is currently a professor at his alma mater.
