Paul Kudjoe Atchoe, President of the Ghana Volleyball Association has expressed his interest in standing for the position of President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) when they go to Congress to elect new executives.
Speaking on Happy FM Sports Programme, Mr. Atchoe who has been President of the Ghana Volleyball Association since 2010 believes he has what it takes t run the GOC successfully.
He said the present administration which has outlived its term of office is not transparent enough and accountability is not the best.
He praised the previous B.T. Baba administration as very open and involved every Association or Federation, but the current Professor Francis Dodoo has not be able to achieve what was expected.
Paul Atchoe admitted that the GOC organized some Olympic Solidarity Courses, but he felt they should have been organized by the Associations themselves and not the GOC.
He noted that Ghana Sports is dying and there is the need for leaders who can make sacrifices and have links and connections to attract sponsors and investors into sports.
The GOC will hold an Extraordinary Congress on Saturday November 26 to draw a road map towards the election of Executive Officers.
Ghana was led to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games by Professor Francis Dodoo and despite personal best performances of some athletes, they flopped generally.
Ghanaian sportspeople want a new leadership to steer affairs for the next Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia in two years and the Olympic Games in 2020 in Tokyo, Japan.
