Pastor Ransford Obeng, the General Overseer of Charismatic Christian Centre (CCC) has appealed to the general public, especially the youth to cultivate the habit of donating blood to save  the lives of patients in dire need of blood to survive.

He observed that many patients were losing their lives because blood banks at the various hospitals were running short of blood and citizens were reluctant in donating blood to save lives.

Pastor Obeng made the appeal after a blood donation programme organised by the Church as part of activities to commemorate his 61st birthday on Sunday in Kumasi.

He noted that lack of empathy to share each others’ suffering in the society had been one of the main hindrances preventing the general public from donating blood.

Pastor Obeng said there was no age barrier in donating blood if only donors met the health requirements to do so and therefore, entreated all Ghanaians to get involved in the sacrificial and charitable act of donating blood  to save the lives of many patients.

He cited that in Europe people readily donated even one of their kidneys to save the lives of others whilst “Ghanaians still don’t see and understand  the need to donate blood to save lives”.

Pastor Obeng stated that donation of blood neither took the lives of donors nor caused any complications in their lives and advised them to love and care for others in the spirit of giving and sharing their wealth and possessions with those in need of assistance for socio-economic survival.
