At least 60 foreign and local companies took part in the 4th annual international fair of information and communication technologies (Tic’s Expo 2015) which was kicked off on Wednesday at the Luanda international exhibition center in southern Luanda. ICT
Most of the companies displayed and promoted their IT products and services at the week-long event at the exhibition center and most of the foreign companies were from South Africa, China, Switzerland and Portugal, according to exhibition manager Celia Denis.
The IT industry was one of the fastest growing economic sectors in Angola, which currently had about 14 million users of the mobile telephone network and 3 million users of the internet and more than 400,000 users of digital libraries, according to the latest statistics by the technologies and information ministry.
The goal of the government was to make IT services easily available to all parts of the country by the year 2017 under a national development plan which was kicked off in year 2013 by establishing more infrastructure, transfer of knowledge and technological innovation, expansion of national optical fibre retransmission points and implementation of submarine cables of digital libraries.
