OUT Vice Chancellor Prof Tolly Mbwette

The Open University of Tanzania (OUT) has signed a 20-year contract with a Dar es Salaam–based firm, Regional Transport Company Limited (RTC), aimed at increasing the facility’s capacity.

Speaking to reporters in Dar es Salaam on Saturday, OUT Vice Chancellor Prof Tolly Mbwette said the move aimed at broadening the university’s capacity for more improvements and modernisation.

He said under the signed contract, the OUT would start using Dar es Salaam–based Biafra Secondary School buildings and other facilities on hire effective from February 1 to make necessary modifications.

Prof Mbwette said the buildings and space availed by the RTC would also enable the OUT to have Kinondoni as the regional centre in addition to remaining the OUT’s interim headquarters as construction of its permanent headquarters in Bungo area in Coast region 40 kilometres on the Dar es Salaam-Mbeya High Way was still in progress.

The signature between OUT and the RTC was signed by RTC director Samuel Mwaliweuli and Prof Mbwette.
