Ghana to face Italy in the quarter finals

Ghana coach Evans Adotey has attributed the 2-1 defeat to Canada in the final group game at the World Cup to complacency.

The Black Maidens top Group B of the ongoing U17 Women?s World Cup in Costa Rica despite the defeat to the Canadians who also progress as the group?s runner?s up.

Ghana has made an impressive start to their campaign at the World Cup following opening wins against Korea DPR and Germany.

Evans Adotey?s side however lost their 100 percent start to the competition with the 2-1 defeat to Canada who played the remaining quarter of the game with a man down.

The Black Maidens coach has blamed the defeat on complacency.

?I believe we lost this game due to complacency,? he said.

?After winning our two games and to qualify for the knockout stages, I think the girls got swollen-headed.

?If you look at this game for instance, even though we had a one player advantage, we couldn?t score.?

Ghana will be facing Italy in the quarter finals of the World Cup on Thursday.

The Black Maidens hope to better their bronze medal feat achieved last term in Azerbaijan.
