Ghana head coach Otto Addo is expected to unveil his squad later this week for two high-profile international friendlies against Austria and Germany, as the Black Stars intensify preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana will face Austria on Friday, March 27, 2026, at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna, with kickoff scheduled for 17:00 GMT, before travelling to Stuttgart to meet Germany on Monday, March 30. The fixtures are among the most demanding warm-up matches Ghana has scheduled ahead of what will be their fifth FIFA World Cup appearance, with the Black Stars drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia. Their campaign opens against Panama on June 17, followed by England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27.

Several key players have been ruled out through injury, including Mohammed Kudus, Mohammed Salisu, Abu Francis and Ernest Nuamah, giving Addo the opportunity to assess alternatives and hand opportunities to players on the fringes of the squad. Regulars including Benjamin Asare, Gideon Mensah, Antoine Semenyo and Kamaldeen Sulemana are expected to feature.

Veteran forward Andre Ayew, who has made 10 appearances for Dutch side NAC Breda since joining as a free agent, will not be included despite widespread calls for his recall, with the technical team prioritising squad balance and tactical cohesion as the World Cup approaches.

After the March window, the Black Stars will face Mexico in May before concluding their pre-tournament preparations against Wales on June 2.

The squad announcement is expected within the next two to three days.
