Ofoase-Ayirebi MP Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has called for frank introspection within the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), stating it has drifted from its founding principles.
Speaking at the party’s National Delegates Conference on Saturday, 19 July 2025, Oppong Nkrumah urged members to confront uncomfortable truths about the party’s current trajectory.
“Let’s be bloody honest. Somebody may not like to hear it, but that’s the truth,” he told journalists. “Over the years, people have been more motivated by money and personal interest and other things.” The MP emphasized that the NPP was built on sacrifice, selflessness, and service—values he insists must be revived to restore public trust.
Oppong Nkrumah argued that recommitting to integrity would unify the party and strengthen its appeal. “If we bring these values back to guide how we relate to one another, we will all be driven by a common objective,” he stated. His remarks come as the NPP positions itself for the 2028 elections, seeking to unseat the ruling NDC.
