Permit me to doff my hat for Christians and Muslims in Ghana for living in peace with one another throughout the country over a long period now.

In all our neighborhoods and work places ( both government and privately owned), one can find both Muslims and Christians rubbing shoulders and working in harmony with each other. Both Muslims and Christian pupils attend the same schools tht either belong to christians or Muslims or privately owned. In our markets and commercial shops, no one can tell Muslims and Christians apart as they all do things in common. In our police and military establishments there is no discrimination in award of promotions and assignment of duties. in politics Muslims and Christians are found in all the political parties especially the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Appointment to all political and party positions are made on merit to the benefit of both Muslims and Christians.
The two religious groups now accept inter-marriage to the extent that a sizeable number of Muslim men are married to Christians women and vice versa.

The relationship between Muslims and Christians is so good that Christian and Muslim leaders often establish coalitions to work towards promoting peace during and after political party contests. The love for christians and muslims is also shown for each other when naionan functions are held. A Muslim or Christian leader is called to give the opening and closing prayers.
As a result of the hospitality and love they show to each other, members of the two main religions offer gifts such as food to each other during Christmas and New Year and Islamic festivities.
