A suicide attack and roadside bombing in southern and eastern Afghanistan have left one person dead and four others injured on Tuesday, officials confirmed.
wpid-abujabomb15.jpgIn the latest violent incident, a suicide bomber blew himself up in Taliban former stronghold, the southern Kandahar province, killing no one except himself, spokesman for Kandahar provincial government Samim Khapalwak said.
“A suicide bomber blew himself up inside a mosque in the 4th precinct of Kandahar city at 04:00 p.m. local time today, killing himself but fortunately causing no other loss of life,” Khapalwak told Xinhua.
Khapalwak added that the suicide bomber was disabled and placed the explosive objects in his artificial leg. Fortunately, he was identified by a policeman inside the mosque, he said.
The policeman had made his best to capture the terrorist alive but he blew himself up inside the mosque, he said.
He might have caused carnage if was able to explode himself inside the mosque at 04:30 p.m. when people gathered to offer prayers, the official added.
In the previous violent event which occurred in the eastern Nangarhar province on Tuesday at around 10:00 a.m. local time, four persons, all civilians, were injured, spokesman for the provincial government Ahmad Zia Abdulzai said.
“Four innocent civilians sustained injuries as their vehicle ran over a mine on a road in Daman village of Behsoud district at around 10:00 a.m. local time today,” Abdulzai told reporters.
He blamed the enemies of peace, a reference to the Taliban militants, for organizing the bloody offensive.
However, Taliban militants have yet to claim responsibility for the attack. Enditem
