The Msimbazi Street club, Head of Information and Communication, Haji Manara, told the ?Sunday News? in Dar es Salaam when reached for comments regarding their prized asset?s future at the club.

Reports had it that Okwi?s contract with club has expired and that the player is a free agent now so any club could communicate with him to acquire his services for the next season league.

Other reports suggested that the Ugandan striker has six months only remaining in his contract with the club, so he is free to start communicating with other clubs wishing to sign him.

However, Manara rubbished all reports, describing them as unfounded and that they are just aiming at disrupting the club?s focus during this period of players? registration window, which officially opened recently.

?The reports about Okwi are unfounded because the player?s contract with the club is still valid and it is not true that he has only six months remaining in his current contract.

However, if there is any club wishing to sign him, they should come with a lucrative offer not below 500 US dollars (about 1bn/-) to convince us to let him go,? explained Manara.

Okwi made a dramatic return to his former club Simba SC midway in the 2013/14 season and signed a six months contract as a free agent, just eight months after signing for rivals Young Africans SC.

Initially, the Ugandan striker joined Simba after the 2008/09 season from SC Villa for 40,000 US dollars before Simba sold him to Tunisian club Etoile Du Sahel in 2013 for 300,000 US dollars.

The temperamental striker, however, failed to settle in Tunisia absconding from duty citing contractual breach something that led him to spend a few months without playing football until the intervention of FIFA.

He joined former club SC Villa in the first half of the 2013/14 season before crossing to Yanga. Okwi hardly featured for Yanga, as he was involved in eleven games only before he left the club and dramatically rejoined Simba.

Meanwhile, the Simba head of Information and Communication Haji Manara said that the club will unveil the name of the Head coach, who will take charge of the team in the next season league after the departure of their Serbian tactician Goran Kuponovic.

Manara said tomorrow the club is going to reveal the name of the coach after failing to do so for some weeks due to what he said, ?they were still going through the credential of candidates shortlisted for the post.?
