The chief linguist of the Oguaa Traditional Council, Okyeame Benya, has prayed to the 77 divinities of the Oguaa Traditional Council for peace and security in the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections. He also prayed for the National Democratic Congress to emerge victorious.

Okyeame Benya popularly known as Okyeame Christian gave the prayers shortly after the vice presidential candidate for the NDC, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang, on behalf of her presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, donated many consumable goods and an unspecified amount to the Oguaa Fetu festival Planning Committee on the purification day of the festival.

Praying for the presidential and the vice presidential candidates of the NDC just after the donation, the chief linguist of the Oguaa Traditional Council, Okyeame Christian, disclosed that the same prayer was made for the late former president, Professor John Evans Fiifi Ata Mills when he called on the Oguaa Traditional Council. And truly, he became the nation’s president after the count of the ballot papers in 2009.

He therefore pleaded with the 77 divinities of the traditional council and the ancestors to help the NDC win this year’s elections.

Okyeame Christian also pleaded with the spiritual beings to protect the presidential and the vice presidential candidates of the NDC from malevolent forces before, during, and after the elections. This alone, he stressed when done will enable all promises made to the traditional council to be fulfilled by the leadership of the NDC.

The Purification Day is a day set aside by the Oguaa Traditional Council for a bull to be slaughtered to symbolically cleanse the traditional council of evils that might have been committed against spiritual beings intentionally or unintentionally. This ritual follows donations from individuals, the government, and organizations to the Oguaa Traditional Council.
