Former President Olusegun Obasanjo of Nigeria, is?in Dar el Salam for Rotary Club meeting.

According to Sharmila Bhatt, the Committee Chairperson of Rotary District 9211, the conference would bring together about 1,200 delegates from Tanzania and Uganda.

She said?Africa, which faces a number of challenges, lags behind in membership and it is for this purpose the three days conference will mainly focus on membership development and community projects.

The Rotary District 9211 consists of Uganda and Tanzania with a total of 115 Rotary clubs out of which 38 are in Tanzania.

She told journalists that they were happy to partner with Rotary to once again ensure a tremendous conference for the Rotarians, saying “We recognize and are supportive of the efforts of Rotary for the local communities.”

In Tanzania, Rotary has managed to carry out huge community service projects and in the last seven years the six clubs in Dar es Salaam formed the Rotary Dar Marathon, which facilitated many community projects, including the- stateof- the-art Paediatric Oncology ward at the Muhimbili National Hospital.

Rotary brings together a global network of volunteer leaders who dedicate their time and talent to tackle the world?s most pressing humanitarian challenges.
