Chief Nyesom Wike former minister of state for education on Monday won the PDP governorship primary held in Port Harcourt. Wike got 1,083 votes, Ebinabo West, came second with 3 votes and one Lee got 1 vote.

In his victory speech he said the ‘era of evil people in power has come to an end”.

“We must build a new Rivers with action, we shall put a stop to the madness going on in Rivers, he said.

Delegates danced and sang all through the process praising the controversial politician.

Meanwhile, the Rivers state PDP Caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have rejected the result as most of the PDP bigwigs boycotted the event.

Prince Tonye Princewill, Hon. Nimi Walson-Jack, Engr. Bekinbo Dagogo-Jack, Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs, and former minister of state for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Odein Ajumogobia, former governor Peter Odili were all absent at the primary.

In Ogun state, the National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party has cancelled the governorship primary election in the state.

The party in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, in Abuja on Monday morning, said that the primary was not authorised.

He said that a new date would be announced later for the conduct of the primary election.

Meanwhile, Journalists and police officers at the venue of the Lagos Peoples Democratic Party primary are having a heated argument over a rude comment by a police officer.

An unidentified police officer, referring to the reporters, had said,?Let us clear away these people from here.?

The journalists who had been kept waiting for hours blasted the police over the comments.

Party leaders said voting would commence at 2pm.
