A group identifying itself as Concerned Residents of Tse-Addo in the Greater Accra Region has called on the Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, and the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, to urgently intervene in what they describe as rising tension and insecurity in the area.
At a press engagement, the residents alleged that some members of the Numo Kwashie and Ataa Tawiah Tsinaiatse families — who claim to be allodial owners of portions of Tse-Addo lands — are behind recent disturbances in the community. According to them, certain individuals are using their status as landowners to intimidate and harass developers and residents.
The group expressed grave concern over what they described as a surge in threats and acts of violence in the past few days. They claimed that alleged land guards have been deployed to disrupt lawful development activities, assault workers, and issue threats to property owners.
The residents further alleged that individuals identified as Hermes Oquaye, Daniel Abbey, Clement Bonney, Richard Ashong, and a self-styled land developer known as “Pappy” are part of a network allegedly orchestrating acts of harassment and intimidation in the area.
Lawyer for the group, Benjamin Kwesi Aidoo Esq., stated that the security agencies must intensify surveillance and operations within Tse-Addo to restore calm. He urged authorities to act swiftly to prevent the situation from escalating further.
The latest petition follows an alleged assault on Mr. Adolph Tetteh Adjei, Chief Executive Officer of SAPHOLDA Ventures. According to the residents’ lawyer, Mr. Adjei, who was reportedly developing his legally acquired land, was attacked by individuals described as land guards. He was allegedly beaten and falsely labeled a fugitive during the incident.
The Concerned Residents are therefore appealing to the Inspector-General of Police and the Interior Minister to ensure that all persons found culpable in the recent disturbances are investigated and, if necessary, prosecuted in accordance with the law.
They maintain that their primary objective is to safeguard peace, security, and lawful development within the Tse-Addo community.
