In a release issued to Newsghana.com.gh on Thursday, statef “we are saddened by the inhuman treatment by a section of the ‘police’ and the unprofessional attack on “innocent students” of KATANGA Hall of the Kwame University of Science and Technology during the 2017 Old School Re-Union at the Kumasi Sports stadium, who were beaten and molested by the Police during a misunderstanding between the Unity and Katanga Halls of KNUST, believed to be rivals on campus.”

NUGS has therefore expressed its displeasure in the unprofessional manner in which the Asokwa Police handled the issue. Indicating that, the unwarranted attack by the Police must not be entertained, especially in this 21st century. Adding that, the use of brutal force by the Police at Asokwa Division was highly unprofessional and needless.

“It is very disheartening to note that a week after the said wrongdoing by the policemen, no action has been taken on the guilty parties who were captured by the cameras.

We challenge the Asokwa Division to adhere to their constitutional mandate to protect life and property; “they have no legal entitlement to use excessive force or cause bodily injuries to unarmed students,” the release deemphasized.
