Unknown individuals set a Nissan Pickup belonging to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Binduri Constituency ablaze.

The incident occurred on Monday, July 22, at the residence of Constituency Chairman Samuel Ayaago in Atuba, Binduri District.

According to eyewitnesses, between 9:00 pm and 10:00 pm, three masked men on two motorbikes fired shots at the front of Mr Ayaago’s house, pouring a liquid believed to be petrol on the vehicle with the registration number GX 4164–17, resulting in its destruction.

The recent attack adds to similar attacks in the Zebilla and Pusiga constituencies in June this year.

The perpetrators of these attacks vented their anger on the NPP party vehicles and posters with pictures of the NPP presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, embossed.

Abdulla Abanga, Member of Parliament for the area and Deputy Minister for Local Government, was reportedly using the car for his campaign activities.

During his visit to the scene, the MP expressed regret for the action and called on the law enforcement bodies to take action and apprehend the culprits.

He admonished the constituents, especially members of the NPP, to remain calm while the police investigated the incident.
