THE NEWPatriotic Party (NPP) goes to the polls today to elect constituency officers across the length and breadth of the country.

With the exception of the Eastern region and some constituencies like the Krowor Constituency in the Greater Accra region where elections have been put on hold, all constituencies are expected to elect officers to handle the party at that level.

Elections in the Eastern region have been scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday in honour of the memory of the late Henry Djaba, a former party stalwart who is expected to be buried today.

He was the father of the National Women Organiser of the NPP, Otiko Afisa Djaba, who is seeking re-election.

In the case of Krowor and other constituencies, the elections have been suspended due to misunderstanding which has resulted in legal tussles.

The constituency elections promise to be interesting in view of the heat it has generated over the last couple of weeks coupled with the intense campaign by the various candidates.

Ahead of the elections, former Deputy Communications Director of the party, who is contesting for the position of National Youth Organiser, Sammi Awuku issued a statement expressing his best wishes to all candidates in today?s elections.

?As members of one big political tradition with an enviable track-record of constantly conducting highly competitive and successful internal elections, it is only prudent that we engage in a competition that is healthy, devoid of personal attacks and all other negative tendencies that could affect or mar our fortunes both now and in the future,? he stated.

He noted that ?I humbly appeal to all delegates to act in good faith and in the supreme interest of the party especially when deciding on persons to lead the party organization at the constituency level.

?With God our side, we are sure to bounce back to victory in 2016 and all efforts must be made to ensure that we build very formidable structures at the grassroots and all other levels of organization of the party.

He was hopeful the NPP members would select competent people to lead the party to produce the next president of Ghana in 2016.
