Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairman Freddie Blay has revealed the opposition party is undertaking significant internal reforms to realign with Ghanaian voters’ expectations.

Speaking at the NPP’s National Delegates Conference on 19 July 2025, Blay acknowledged frustration over the party’s 2024 election loss but urged members to prioritize rebuilding with integrity.

“We are angry with ourselves for this situation,” Blay stated, emphasizing that correcting past mistakes requires sustained effort. Referencing the party’s 2009 “Reflect and Recapture” strategy after an earlier defeat, he stressed the current approach extends beyond regaining power. “At the moment, it’s not just recapturing. We are reforming and preparing to be in tune with the electorate,” he explained.

The former chairman underscored values as central to the NPP’s renewal, declaring: “We must rebuild together with our values. That’s how we move forward.” His remarks signal a strategic shift as the party positions itself for the 2028 elections against the ruling NDC government led by President John Mahama.
