Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman Bernard Antwi Bosiako, known as Chairman Wontumi, has emphasized that the party’s National Delegates Conference centers on constitutional collective decision-making rather than individual agendas.
Speaking at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on 19 July 2025, Wontumi stated that over 5,000 delegates would review 300 reform proposals submitted from all 275 constituencies and 16 regions.
“Today is about the majority not individuals,” Wontumi declared, citing Article 19 of the NPP Constitution. “Delegates will decide proposals shaping our future.” The conference aims to realign the opposition party’s strategy after its 2024 election loss to the ruling NDC. Outcomes will guide reorganization ahead of Ghana’s 2028 polls, where President Mahama’s NDC must field a new candidate.
Following debates, the NPP National Executive Committee will formalize adopted resolutions. The process signals unified efforts to address internal restructuring calls by figures like Kojo Oppong Nkrumah and Freddie Blay. Wontumi framed the congress as pivotal for rebuilding credibility amid Ghana’s shifting political landscape.
