Dennis Miracles Aboagye, aide to former Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, has endorsed a proposed constitutional amendment to lower the NPP’s National Youth Organiser age ceiling from 40 to 35 years.

Speaking at the party’s National Delegates Conference on 19 July 2025, Aboagye argued the change is critical to connect with Ghana’s dominant youth electorate.

“Voters aged 15–35 now form the majority,” Aboagye stated, emphasizing that a younger Youth Organiser could better resonate with this demographic. His position contrasts with National Youth Organiser Salam Mustapha’s firm opposition to the amendment. The proposal is among 300 constitutional reforms debated as the NPP repositions after its 2024 loss to the ruling NDC.

Aboagye framed the measure as strategic for 2028 elections, where youth engagement will be pivotal. Delegates will vote on the amendment alongside broader party restructuring efforts championed by senior figures like Freddie Blay and Kojo Oppong Nkrumah.
