MADRID — Spain’s political unity against the threat of terrorism was strengthened on Thursday when seven parties signed the anti-terrorism pact which the governing People’s Party (PP) and the Socialist Workers’ Party (PSOE) had previously penned in February.

The pact was signed by Citizens (Ciudadanos), UPyD, Union and PAR, a regional party from Aragon, and regional parties Coalition Canaria, Foro Asturias and UPN (from Navarra) at a meeting at the Spanish Interior Ministry. (Spain-Terrorism)

MOSCOW — At least 10 people were killed in a Mi-8 helicopter crash in Russia’s northern Krasnoyarsk region Thursday, the West Siberian Transport Prosecutor’s Office said.


“Latest data showed that 10 people have died in the crash and 15 others have been taken to hospital,” the office said in a statement. Earlier reports said the death toll was 15.

DHAKA — A man was dead and three others were injured Thursday night after unidentified gunmen opened fire at a Shia mosque in Bangladesh’s Bogra district, some 197 km northwest of Dhaka.

BAGHDAD — A total of 38 Islamic State (IS) militants were killed on Thursday in airstrikes by international aircraft and in clashes with security forces in Ramadi, security sources said.

Government troops and allied paramilitary units retook control of Palestine Bridge in the western part of Anbar’s provincial capital city of Ramadi, some 110 km west of Baghdad, after heavy clashes with IS militants, a provincial security source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
