BAMAKO — As many as 27 people were killed on Friday after Malian forces staged a rescue mission to free hostages held by gunmen at a luxury hotel in capital Bamako.

UNITED NATIONS — The UN Security Council adopted a resolution here on Friday, calling on all countries to coordinate efforts to prevent further terrorist attacks by the Islamic State (IS) and similar groups.

The unanimously-adopted resolution calls upon member states that have the capacity to do so to “take all necessary measures” to “redouble and coordinate their efforts to prevent and suppress terrorist acts” committed by IS and other terrorist groups. (UN Security Council-Resolution)

PARIS — French President Francois Hollande and visiting King of Morocco Mohammad VI on Friday expressed their determination to combat terrorist cells and help to resolve the crisis in the Arab region which has likely triggered rising waves of radicalized militants.

RAMALLAH/GAZA — Around 61 Palestinians were injured on Friday during clashes between dozens of Palestinian protesters and Israeli soldiers in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, according to the Palestinian health ministry.
