Preparations are underway for Ghana?s most authoritative investment promotion event for the northern belt, the Northern Business and Investment Fair (NBIF).

Themed ?Bridging the development divide through investment promotion?, the fair seeks to provide an exhibition platform for all businesses including banking institutions, insurance companies, exporters of non-traditional export commodities, microfinance companies, manufacturing and trading companies, telecommunications companies, SMEs, NGOs and other related organisations.

NBIF 2012 will provide the platform for companies to reach out to their individual and organisational target groups as well as the general public with their products and services.

The unique event is also expected to lead to the formation of partnerships with potential investors and other interest groups in Northern Ghana. ?

The five-day event is scheduled for August 27 to September 1, 2012 at the Tamale Sports Stadium and seeks to bring together major stakeholders in trade, manufacturing, agriculture, export and the services sector from large organisations? to small- and medium-scale? enterprises (SMEs).

The Northern Business and Investment & Fair was initiated in 2009 against the backdrop that a significant number of businesses operating in the south are desirous of penetrating into north but lack the right platform and resources to make a full-scale expansion into this market.

The fair was therefore initiated to serve as a major activity that promotes business and investment in the northern sector.

According to Mrs. Edith Dankwa, the Executive Director of Business and Financial Times, ?The fair will also create opportunities for businesses in the northern sector of Ghana as well as businesses planning to enter the region to find a common platform to form strategic partnerships that will help in expanding their businesses.

It will also serve as an avenue for opening up the three regions in the north to investors who wish to better understand the dynamics and resource potentials of the area, and how best to take advantage of them.?

The fair, she added, ?will in addition provide the platform for participating companies and institutions to receive valuable feedback from their potential and existing clients, so as to help them re-strategise for the future.?

Highlights of the one-week exhibition include:
??? ?The Fidelity Bank-NBIF Seminars
??? ?Export Development and Agriculture Investment Fund (EDIF) Day
??? ?Business Networking Cocktail

Sponsors for this year?s edition include: Fidelity Bank; Elite Kingdom & Investments Services Ltd; Azar Chemical Industries; Discovery Hotels Group Ltd; Starbow Airlines; and Sundowner Hotel.

Over 150 companies from a cross-section of industries are expected to participate in the fair.
The Northern Business and Investment Fair event is produced by the Business and Financial Times, Africa?s leading source of credible and relevant business information, and BIA Conferences, the leading Pan-African conferences and events management Company.

NBIF 2012 is being organised under the auspices of the Ministry of Trade & Industry, Enablis Entrepreneurial Network and the Savannah Accelerated Authority (SADA).
