Minister for Finance and Economic Planning, Dr Kwabena Duffuor, has revealed that the Mills-Mahama administration has adopted a deliberate policy to punish the Ashanti Region of development because the region votes for the NPP.
According to Kwabena Duffuor, in his address at the inauguration of the Sekyere North District Assembly at Drobonso in the Ashanti, since Ashanti Region is the Capital and World Bank of the NPP, it is extremely difficult for the NDC government to bring projects to the region because of their usual failure to vote for the NDC during elections.
Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, who hails from the area, stated that because of the voting pattern of Ashanti region which favours the NPP, it will be very difficult for him to lobby for projects for the area.
He said “in most of his endeavours to lobby for more projects to be constructed in Kumawu, some top NDC government officials usually object to my plea, saying those people always vote against us during elections” He however said, for President Mills? benevolence, Kumawu and its environs (towns) have benefitted from the numerous projects under the present government but he, Kwabena Duffuor and some government officials were not pleased with the votes that the NDC attained from the area.
