No Ethiopians were hurt on Wednesday night in the terrorist attack in Somalia capital Mogadishu that killed at least 18 people, the Foreign Ministry said Thursday.
There was speculation that Ethiopians might have been victims of a combined suicide bomb and small arms attack that started Wednesday night but continued into Thursday morning.
Somali Islamist militant group Al-Shabaab claimed the attack, which was carried out by six militants who seized control of the Pizza restaurant and fired on the adjacent Posh hotel.
The militant group wants to overthrow the internationally recognized fragile Somalia central government and establish a state built on strict Islamic law.
Al-Shabaab militants were driven out of Mogadishu in August 2011, but since then they’ve repetadly attacked soft targets such as recreational centers including restaurants. Enditem
