Dr Bernice A. Welbeck, Acting Executive Secretary of the National Labour Commission (NLC), on Tuesday said the Commission would hold a meeting with striking Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) on Wednesday.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Dr Welbeck said the Commission, upon hearing about the intended indefinite strike, directed CETAG to rescind its decision.

She said NLC invited CETAG, Ministry of Education, and the National Council for Tertiary Education to appear before it on January 15, 2014 but CETAG failed to make an appearance.

Dr Welbeck said CETAG should have gone through certain procedures before embarking on the strike.

She said members of CETAG could have waited to hear from the NLC before taking such a decision, however, ?we will meet them on Wednesday to discuss the issues at stake?.
