Online sales in Nigeria have recorded a significant increase, with more and more people engaging in internet shopping ahead of the Yuletide.

Despite the economic recession in the West African country, online shop owners have expressed surprise that their websites had attracted about 20 percent increase in traffic compared with the shopping season last year.

Most of the online business owners said their records showed they began to record huge sales of various items, particularly between Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

While Black Friday is widely known as the Friday that follows the American Thanksgiving, the Cyber Monday is also acknowledged as the Monday after the Thanksgiving holiday.
