The All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA) national chairman, Chief Victor Umeh has described the implementation of the more than 600 recommendations of the recent National Conference that seek a new restructured, all-inclusive polity, as the main cardinal reason why Nigerians should trust and re- elect President Goodluck Jonathan in the coming Feb 14 presidential poll.

Umeh who is the Anambra Central senatorial candidate in the general election, disclosed this in an interview with the Guardian yesterday in his Agulu-uzoigbo countryhome, Anaocha council, yesterday after a tactical meeting of his campaign team with all the national and state assemblies candidates and chairmen of the 7 LGAs within the senatorial zone, said that it was very unfortunate for those touting their love for unity and development of the nation under the All Progressives Congress(APC) even when the party dissociated itself and stayed away from the national conference where the future and unity of the nation was openly discussed.

He gave kudos to Jonathan for taking up the challenge of convoking the conference which many other leaders before him dared not discuss. Umeh therefore urged Nigerians to massively vote to re-elect Jonathan to enable him implement the recommendations of the conference for a new Nigeria.

According to him, it was clear that since the APC opposed the conference, it would foolhardy of anyone to think they would touch the recommendations should they get elected.

Again, on the reported “rascal comments” of one of APGA members in Imo state- Mr Nick Campbell Nzekwe, Umeh described it as unfortunate if he actually said so. He dissociated the party or it’s officers from the said comments, insisting that the appropriate party machinery has been put in motion to refute the unfortunate irresponsible comments.

He emphasized that Mr Nzekwe was never his adviser, or chairman of APGA in Lagos state or was he ever an officer of the party at all, hence has no powers to speak on behalf of the party at all.

Umeh reaffirmed that APGA supports Jonathan, and the resolution to support him was passed and adopted in the special convention of the party of Dec 17, 2014 in Awka, with clearly stated reasons, one of which was the implementation of the recommendations of the national conference.

He therefore described Nzekwe’s unauthorized comments as reckless and should be discountenanced by every reasonable citizen as coming from a compromised mind.
