Spokesperson of the senate Aliyu Sabi who made this known to reporters in Abuja, the nation’s capital, said the letter did not specify when the president would return to the country.

“We are also in receipt of a second letter informing us that he is extending his vacation because in the course of the routine checkup, his doctors recommended more checkups,” he added.

The senate would deliberate on the letter upon resumption on Feb. 21, the spokesperson said.

Buhari left Abuja for Britain on Jan. 19 on a short leave, which is part of his annual vacation.

The Nigerian leader formally handed over mantle of leadership of the country to Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo.

Acting President Osinbajo has since been performing the functions of the Office of the President as stipulated in the nation’s constitution. Enditem
