Nigerian comedian Isaac Aloma Junior, known as Zicsaloma, has urged young workers to establish strict financial boundaries with family members to achieve long-term independence.

In a video shared on Instagram, the former lecturer addressed how disclosing income details can create financial pressure from relatives. The comedian explained that many of his past business attempts failed not because he lacked discipline, but because his savings were constantly diverted to family needs once they knew he had money.

Zicsaloma stated that revealing a monthly income of 300,000 naira can trigger expectations from family members who view the amount as substantial. He warned that relatives may begin calculating how much they can request monthly, with some potentially reducing their own work efforts in expectation of regular support.

According to him, repeated financial demands from relatives contributed to the collapse of several enterprises he tried to build while growing up.

The comedian advised young people to consider protecting their income information, even if it requires being less transparent about earnings. He emphasized that this approach allows for savings and investment rather than continuous financial depletion.

On the topic of lending money to friends, Zicsaloma cautioned that one-time assistance often creates ongoing dependency. He suggested that refusing requests from the beginning prevents future conflicts when support cannot be sustained.

He acknowledged that emergencies involving life and death situations require different consideration, but maintained that routine financial support can prevent both givers and receivers from achieving financial growth.

While acknowledging the cultural roots of such expectations, he stressed that unchecked financial obligations can derail personal growth and future plans.

The content creator’s comments have generated discussion online about balancing family obligations with personal financial stability in African households.

Zicsaloma, who previously worked as a lecturer at Kaduna Polytechnic before pursuing comedy full-time, has built a significant following across social media platforms since beginning his entertainment career in 2018.
